Ron Howard to direct Beatles documentary

Care to experience the Beatlemania? Luck is on your side. Oscar winning director Ron Howard has announced his decision to produce and direct a documentary about Beatles. Now fans of the Beatles can re-live their past experience in a documentary.

Howard's Beatles documentary will be of feature length and cover the Fab Four, when they were touring between 1960 to 1966.

The Beatles documentary will be made with the cooperation the Fab Four - Yoko Ono Lennon, Paul McCartney, Olivia Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The yet untitled film will be released in theaters by the end of next year.

Apple Corps Ltd., White Horse Pictures and Howard's producing partner Brian Grazer are collectively producing the project.

The director of "A Beautiful Mind" said he feels "excited and honored" to make the film on the Beatles. Howard says the impact of the Beatles on popular culture and the human experience has been considerable.

Howard's documentary film will chronicle the English rock band, who started playing in Liverpool in 1960 and moved on to Hamburg, in Germany. They became a sensation when they stormed America in 1964 and appeared on The Ed Sullivan show.

Concert footages and about a dozen songs by the group will feature in his film, said Howard.

The announcement about Beatles documentary comes at the 50th anniversary of the first appearance on the British group on the show.
