Bridal looks for this season

The wedding day is one of the important days in the life of a woman. Since childhood she plans as to what she would be wearing on her special day. A bride looks gorgeous on her D-day. It's like a watershed in a woman's life, for she turns into a woman from a girl. This day is the beginning of her journey into a new life. India being a land of diversity, no two wedding is the same as the influence of cultures varies between regions as well as between states. Let have a look to understand as to what differentiates one bride from the other.

Grandeur



When it comes to opulence, nothing can beat the Northern wedding like a Punjabi wedding or the ones held in its neighbouring states. A Punjabi wedding is more of a festivity and grandeur that continues for three to four days. So it's normal for a Punjabi bride to be decked up wearing luxurious jewellery. Punjabi bride’s look is incomplete without the chuda, consisting of a set of red and white ivory bangles, as well as the maang tikka.

Southern goddesses





Brides of South India are decked in gold jewellery and flowers. Southern states of India has a close affinity to dieties and nature. Their jewellery designs are inspired by gods and goddesses as well as by nature. Girls from these states have a fondness for gold so their bridal look has a dominance of gold jewellery along with flowers. Southern brides also prefer floral designs in their jewellery.

Most brides wear a shringar patti, a gold tiara worn on the forehead. Besides manga malai (mango mala), a necklace made of gold and studded with ruby in the shape of mangoes, is also a must-have for any bride. Brides from Mangalore wear an assortment of jewellery pieces that includes emeralds and vibrant corals.

Western royalty


Rajasthan located in the western part of India is famous for its royal families and their jewellery. In such a scenario, a bride from this region is likely to dress like a princess and her jewellery includes nose ring, borla tikka and baju bandh besides the necklaces and bangles worn by all brides. Use of kundan jewellery is widely prevelant in the state, and has become integral to a Rajasthani bride's makeup.

Coastal Bride


A bride from Maharashtra does not deck up as glamorously as the northern brides but she definitely wears certain jewellery pieces that are considered essential. Maharashtrian bride wears a beautiful nose pin crafted with pearls and precious stones that is designed in paisley shape. The nose pin adds the glamour quotient to a Maharashtrian bride. Besides she also wears the mundavlya on her forehead that symbolizes flower garlands. Mundavlya is a string of pearls, diamonds and precious stones that adorn her forehead.

Eastern bride



Brides from Bengal are well known for their red-and-white bangles known as shankha-pola. The white bangle is known as shankha and is made of conch shells, while the red bangles called pola is made of red corals. The wedding jewellery of a Bengali bride includes the paanch lahiri (necklace having five strands), gola chik, sita haar, nolak, tikoly and kaan. Besides most brides also wear the kamar chavi on her wedding day.
