Story
Yaariyan is about college romance. But the film is not about one but several college romances that have been put together like in Main Hoon Na, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar and Ishq Vishk.In the film Himansh Kohli stars as Lakshya who seems to be an aimless youth but he is popular in his college. Problem starts when a rich Australian businessman named Rockfeller buys land near Lakshya's college with the intension to open a hotel-cum-casino. Lakshya's college principal, Jim Martin (Gulshan Grover) objects to Rockfeller's project and challenges Martin to pitch his students against Rockfeller's. So the film that started with young love and friendship turns into a pseudo-desh bhakti film.
Analysis :
Yaariyan
started with college romance and hovered around young love and
friendship that transforms into a pseudo-desh bhakti film. The film
portrays college students in a very appalling manner. The way girls have
been projected as hypersexual and boys in a 'boys will be boys'
attitude gives an unrealistic picture about young people and their idea
on life and relationships. The film is very confusing. Maybe Divya
Khosla Kumar should have talked to actual teenagers before attempting
the film.Performance :
There
seems to be little to talk about performance of the characters in the
movie. All that the characters do is bawling, howling, sobbing and
sniffling.Final Word:
Go for it if you have no respect for your intelligence.
